If you’ve ever been to the Arboretum, located in Chaska, before, you know that it’s a BEAUTIFUL and relaxing place to visit. And, it’s important to note, the Arboretum isn’t just amazing to visit in the summer…there’s beauty to be found year-round! Bonus for the winter month, admission is FREE all day every Thursday from November through March. Don’t fret though, you can still save money in the summer months too. From April through October admission is FREE every third Thursday after 4:30pm, and on all other Thursdays take advantage of 2-for-1 admission after 4:30pm. On other days, admission is $9 for non-members and children ages 15 and under are free!
A few highlights for visiting the Arboretum. They have a variety of unique gardens located throughout that you can enjoy by either driving or walking their Three-mile Drive path, 12 miles of hiking trails, 9 miles of cross-country ski trails and 2 miles of snowshoe trails. You can also just wander as you may from place to place, just relaxing and enjoying the sites. I took my kids last summer and they could have spent all day in the Maze Garden and the Japanese Garden. There’s so many unique displays in each garden, you really would be surprised at how fun of a place it can be for kids to visit. They also have a library and a visitor center with gift shop, restaurant and Learning Center. Note, the displays can change throughout the year, based on the season. One of the highlights currently is the Orchid Exhibit in the Oswald Visitor Center, on display through March 13th. Make sure to check it out!
On Thursdays, take your children, of all ages, for Storytime from 10:30am-11:00am. The stories will reflect seasonal or nature-related themes. And on Saturdays and Sundays, from Noon-4pm, come enjoy Free Family Drop-in Activities in the Learning Center. Each month will highlight a different seasonal activity.
Grounds are open 8am-8pm, or sunset (whichever comes 1st)
